Proud owner of Backyard Bees of North America poster!

Insect bee on horse nettles 2

In spite of my poster on Backyard Bees of North America I have not identified this one yet. The poster shows side views of bees, not top down. Plus I didn’t find this bee in my backyard. Oops. I was on the road again.

But I can tell you the flowers are horse nettles . If not, hopefully someone will correct me! Meanwhile, don’t touch them!

The books and a booklet series based on each different yarn craft topic covered in "The Yarn Animal Book" (pompoms and other really easy yarn crafts, knitting, crocheting, rya, needlepoint and embroidery), are available on Amazon and Kindle.

  1. Hi Carrie, really enjoy your postings! If you do not mind I could forward this to Sam Droege who is a bit of an expert in the Bee field; he did a presentation for Southern Maryland Audubon Society this past fall on Bees and sold his book as well. He told us that there are new bees being identified almost everyday. There are far more species than was thought.

If you want to send a query directly his email is
