The Sun and her supporting clouds performed for us 1-17-18.

The Sun is heading north but everyone in DC is heading southwest!
The Sun is rolling north, rolling on the river! It set at the dark finger of land on the left side of the photo on 12-21-17 (winter solstice). This photo was taken 1-18-18.
Moon following Sun
The Moon always follows the Sun so the Sun cannot hide from us, any more than my children could hide from me when they were small because our Border Collie followed them everywhere. I see her tail in my memory, like a crescent moon. The Potomac River’s open water reflects the salmon sunset while the ice reflects the blue sky.

Day is done vs. day’s begun…
Sundown 1-15-18. The wonderful thing about the end of the day is how relaxing a sunset is. Sunrise is equally lovely but too soon blindingly bright. Day is done vs. day’s begun! A totally different mindset.
Ice textures on frozen Potomac River
So many grades of ice from smooth to rough on the Potomac River!
Sunset over frozen Potomac River
Sunset over frozen Potomac River is beyond imagining! My granddaughter asked what was wrong with the water. It wasn’t moving!
Why are sunsets more popular than other photos?
Why do more viewers respond to sunset photos than other photos? …And take the time to say something nice?
Sunset and moon set to start 2018!
Hi Moon!
12/21/17 the southern sky bid goodbye to the Sun. Why does the real cold hit when the sun turns North?
Urgent: Find the Winter Solstice sunset!
Try to get a sunset view tonight or tomorrow night! The Winter Solstice is 12/21. But my husband says tonight is the longest night and it’s supposed to be cloudy here. Photo is of 12/20 sunset. Tonight it will set a little bit to the left of where it is in photo. Then the sun will pause and return to the north.
Please let me know if your sunset search is successful!
